Christmas is my favorite holiday. One of the things I like most about it is giving people gifts. Not to toot my own horn, but I am pretty good at it. If you have no idea what to get people (my dad is the hardest to buy for so I understand-sorry dad), here are some fun ideas for eco-friendly gifts that anyone would enjoy.
Gift Ideas For Every Age
Toys are starting to be made with recyclable or renewable materials. Many of those beloved figures and cars can be made out of bamboo or recycled plastic. I’ve seen some companies advertise on games that you can recycle them. Pretty awesome to think about.
Besides toys, there are some good gifts out there. Some practical and some fun. Basically just research what you are buying and make sure it comes from reliable sources.
So let’s start with some eco-friendly gifts for the young’uns!
1. Science Toys! Teach them about recycling and fun ways to reuse common household items.
For you teenagers,
For the older peeps (like me)
2. Recycled metal ostrich planter-sooooo cool. It even tells you where it comes from, what’s used, etc. (I tried to get a picture, but go look at it)
4. Bike Six Pack Holder-for those active people-don’t drink and drive!
And it wouldn’t be a gift without the wrapping! Here are some options for wrapping paper.
If you go the traditional route with regular wrapping paper, you can recycle it as long as it does not have glitter or metallic. However it does depend on where you live. Some places do not accept wrapping or tissue paper. So it ends up in the trash. For this holiday look into just reducing your waste and future waste by opting for gifts that come from good sources.
Another idea is look for Fair Trade goods. They sell items other people have made from all over the world and the money goes back to creators. It helps fund people who have little.
May your holidays be fun and happy this year!
